Hawaii Pro postponed

Due to the requirements of the major sponsors that we are working with, the 2006 PWA Hawaii Pro will now take place later in the year. The event, which showcases the greatest wave sailing talent in some of the best conditions on earth, is traditionally the opening salvo of the battle for the PWA Wave Championship. However, in order to correctly integrate the event with the marketing needs of its sponsors, the contest will now be rescheduled to a date later in 2006.

PWA Chairman Jimmy Diaz: "I am sure both the fans and the sailors will be disappointed that they will now have to wait to see the best of the best at Hookipa. Nevertheless, we are confident that the lead time we have gained through the postponement will ensure we can put together a world class event that will be a critical component of this years Wave Championship and a great success for our sponsors and for windsurfing as a whole."

Previous winners have included some of the biggest names in wave sailing such as Jason Polakow (Neil Pryde, JP), Josh Angulo and Daida Moreno (North Sails, Mistral). Despite the postponement, the 2006 Hawaii Pro is expected to be the most prestigious event on the PWA Wave circuit.

King of the Caribbean cancelled

press release: Bonaire- The King of the Caribbean Committee regretfully announces the cancellation of the 4th King of the Caribbean which was provisionally slated for April 6-9. After careful thought and discussion, the committee unilaterally decided that it would be in the best interest of the Bonaire windsurfing community to distribute monies allocated for King of the Caribbean to the 2nd Annual Pro Kids Worlds slated for Aug. 3-6. The youth and windsurfing is clearly the vision and the direction to place energy and support. All members of the King of the Caribbean Committee will join forces with the Pro Kids Committee in creating the biggest and best event to happen in our windy paradise.

Qualifier events for kids will be held May - July all over the globe. The finals will be held here in Bonaire when it is expected that kids from the UK, France, Italy and German to name a few, will come compete for the coveted title of Pro Kid. Starboard is once again sponsoring this event. Our 2nd event is expected to eclipse last year's great success. It is hoped that all support and sponsors of KOTCaribbean recognize the youth and our sport and transfer sponsorship to the Pro Kids Worlds.

A new pro freestyle event is being planned for 2007 which is surely going to blow away the windsurf world. Keep watching for news and updates. Thank you for your support. Please contact Elvis Martinus at 717-2288 or Ann Phelan for sponsor or event details.

Karin Jaggi on North Sails

"Since the first January I am sailing on North Sails. I am honored to join the most successful team in the windsurfing sailmarket. And I'm soooooo stoked with my new sails!!!! The fastest sails I have ever tried!!!

But there is also the tear in my eye to have to say goodbye to Arrows. For as long as I can remember I have always been on Arrows Sails. I was their first international teamrider and have won all my titles with that brand. It has been a great 12 years with many memorable moments and many friends within the Arrows family that I hope to keep forever. THANKS - thanks to all of you - most of all for all your personal mental support for over a decade!!!

Now starts a new era for me - and I am tripple motivated!!! I am joining a highly successful team - including my toughest competitors in Waves, Freestyle and Super-X - and a brand that has the same goal than myself: to be the best."
